Master Cheng I Master Cheng II 

Around the year 2000, Randolph wrote a second volume to the renowned ‘Master Cheng’ (or ‘Master Tcheng’ in some editions). The original text - in English ‘The Sayings of Old Man Tcheng’ and in french ‘Les Propos de vieux Tcheng’ - was a traditional Buddhist text of unknown origin that had circulated within spiritual circles in the Netherlands since 1985, thanks to figures such as Wolter Keers, Jean Klein, and Alexander Smit. The sequel (part II) Randolph wrote, describes the development and teachings a student of Master Cheng receives ‘after’ enlightenment.
Randolph penned this concise text after a long period of silence and anonymity, following a brain hemorrhage suffered by his younger brother at the age of 35 - the result of a hereditary condition. Amidst the emptiness and silence of that time he was living, it dawned on Randolph that "if he were to die, his children might never know who their father truly was, what he stood for, and what he had discovered." Curious whether this ‘undertaking’ might lead to a new form of identification - or cause him to start believing in something again -he began committing his experiences and realizations to paper, crafting the text in such a way that the reader would naturally undergo a process of ‘elimination’ by the time they reached the end. In 2009, this condensed material was expanded into a book and afterwards translated in English and published as ‘Master Cheng II’, accompanied by a free adaptation of the original text, which was released as ‘Master Cheng I’.
